The Triump at Nexus'23

What is it? 

On the 5th of October 2023, my friends - Megavarshini, Deepali, Manswini and I had the incredible opportunity to participate in a National Level Technical Symposium held at KGiSL College of Technology. Our primary focus during this event was the exhilarating coding challenge known as CodExtreme.

How it started?

It all started when my friend Manswini shared the event brochure with me. The moment I laid my eyes on it, an overwhelming enthusiasm surged within me to be a part of this event. I was eager to showcase my coding skills and talents to a wider audience. Following a detailed conversation with the event organizers over the phone, we promptly registered for the event.

We arrived at the venue punctually and, after completing the registration process and receiving our credentials, we were directed to the Yoga Hall for the inauguration ceremony. The event was organized by KGiSL's Department of Computer Science and Business Systems, and the speeches delivered by the Head of the Department and the Chief Guest left us inspired.

     

Upon inquiry, we were informed that we would receive a problem statement and were tasked with finding a solution. However, there was a twist - we were presented with four distinct problem statements, each requiring us to devise the best possible solution. We were granted the liberty to use any programming language of our choice. Since we all possessed a solid foundation in Python, we unanimously decided to work with it.

The problems, though not spine-chilling, were challenging in their own right, resembling intricate code puzzles. Surprisingly, we managed to complete the challenges ahead of everyone else. Our solutions impressed the organizers, not only for the efficiency of our code but also for our ability to grasp the problem quickly and deliver effective solutions.

The Triump

To our delight and surprise, we clinched the second prize in the competition. Winning in a fiercely competitive environment, where we were pitted against senior students from various other colleges, was a remarkable achievement. It's often said that conquering complex challenges is relatively straightforward when you have a well-defined approach. However, excelling in a national-level competition, tackling seemingly simple problems, and delivering efficient and impressive code is no small feat.

At the end of the day, we walked away with not just a prize but also an incredible experience. It was a day filled with learning, teamwork, and the thrill of competition. We look forward to more such opportunities in the future, where we can continue to test our skills and expand our horizons.
